Oil & Gas UK chief executive Deirdre Michie formally opened the new Aberdeen base for oil services firm Cameron.
The new Cameron services facility, located in the city’s Gateway Business Park, is four-times larger than the previous base, increasing Cameron’s capacity for repairs and rental services, customer storage and inventory management.
The facility features a larger workshop area and enhanced in-house capability for pressure testing of higher pressures for HPHT systems and capability to test risers in house
Cameron has also expanded its training workshop and classroom training to continue to develop field service technicians’ understanding of the equipment and also offers customers the opportunity to undertake training.
Speaking after the visit Michie said: “This industry is going through really challenging times with businesses having to make some tough decisions.
“However, companies like Cameron are recognising they need to invest to stay ahead- they know that this industry will come through this – and that it must be one that is competitive and fit for purpose if it is to be sustainable.
Last month Cameron was acquired by oil services giant Schlumberger in a $14.8billion deal.
