An Aberdeen-born oil industry veteran’s influence on the sector was recognised at an awards ceremony in the Granite City last night.
Ray Riddoch, UK managing director at Nexen, scooped up the significant contribution accolade in front of more than 450 people at the Offshore Achievement Awards.
The event was organised by the Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE) Aberdeen Section and took place at the Aberdeen Exhibition and Conference Centre.
In the other categories for individuals, Sparrows Group’s John Fraser took home the above and beyond trophy and BP’s Laura Steedman was handed the young professional award.
Catering firm Entier won the great company prize in the section for large enterprises.
Oilfield equipment supplier BiSN won two awards. It was crowned great company in the category for small to medium-sized businesses, as well as picking up the prize for innovation.
Peterhead-based engineering company Score (Europe) won the category for outstanding skills development programme.
Two entries were selected for the collaboration award − BP and Subsea 7, and Connected Competence.
Coretrax Technology was victorious in the export achievement category, while Osbit’s entry for the HSE innovation section was selected by the judging panel.
Guardian Global Technologies snapped up the emerging technology award.
