SBM Offshore has marked a milestone after achieving first oil from its floating, production, storage and offloading (FPSO) vessel offshore Brazil.
The vessel has been installed in the Lula field in the pre-salt province offshore Brazil and SBM said it will operated under a 20-year charter.
The Cidade de Saquarema is the second pre-salt FPSO to go into operation this year for Petrobras.
Both have been delivered on fast-track schedules.
The FPSO achieved first oil within 47 days of sailaway from the joint venture yard the Brasa in Niteroi in Rio.
In the past four years, SBM said it has delivered four FPSOs in the company’s Brazilian fleet.
FPSO Cidade de Saquarema is owned and operated by affiliated companies of SBM Offshore, Mitsubishi Corporation, Nippon Yusen Kabushiki Kaisha, and Queiroz Galvão Óleo e Gás S.A. in which SBM Offshore’s shareholding is 56%.
